Cognify - AI Criminal Justice Experiment Using Implanted Memories in Prisoners

Atomic Truth

March 2, 2025

I ran across an interesting video titled Cognify: The AI Prison Sentence That Rewrites Criminal Minds”  which describes an experimental concept for criminal justice that uses implanted memories being offered to prisoners, in exchange for reduced sentences.

Fragments of Truth, on Rumble describe the program: “Cognify is a radical new concept where criminals could choose between decades behind bars or a seven-minute AI memory implantation that permanently alters their brain chemistry. Designed to make offenders more empathetic and incapable of repeating their crimes, this technology forces criminals to mentally and emotionally experience the suffering of their victims. But is this true rehabilitation, or a dystopian nightmare in disguise? ~ Fragments of Truth

What is Cognify?

Cognify is a prison concept that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to implant memories into prisoners to help them rehabilitate. The goal is to reduce recidivism and transform the criminal justice system by focusing on rehabilitation over punishment.

How it works

🔸Prisoners choose between a traditional prison sentence or AI-assisted rehabilitation

🔸AI creates personalized memories based on the crime and the prisoner's brain

🔸The memories are implanted into the prisoner's brain

🔸The prisoner is monitored for behavioral changes

Potential benefits

✔️Reduced recidivism rates, Lower costs for prisons, Faster reintegration of prisoners into society, Increased productivity and tax revenue, and Safer communities.

Ethical concerns

✔️Memories are complex and not easily manipulated

✔️Misuse of AI to alter memories could lead to a skewed sense of self

Real-world applications

✔️Cognify could also be used to treat memory loss and PTSD.

The concept of Cognify was proposed by science communicator and filmmaker Hashem Al-Ghaili.

Where Have We Heard this Concept Before? 🤔

I knew I had heard this concept before….but where? Netflix, of course! Where all social experiments are revealed to us first, before actually becoming reality(sometimes😂). There is a Netflix series called “The I-LAND”. You can watch the trailer, here. It’s a limited series that was released in 2019 and consists of 7 episodes, with an average run time of 36 minutes. The plot consists of “10 people who wake up on a treacherous island and have no memory, they soon discover this world is not as it seems”. It stars Kate Bosworth, Natalie Martinez, and Alex Pettyfer.

While I couldn’t find a direct connection between the creator of Cognify to The I-Land, Al-Ghaili has been involved in various creative projects, including directing and producing short films and writing his first book, Simulation: The Great Escape, in 2023. In case you would like a glimpse at the creative works of the creator of this real life, radical prison experiment’s sci-fi creations, you can check out the trailer of ‘Simulation: The Great Escape’, here.

More and more, as every day that passes, an increasing number of these seemingly, science fictional concepts, that we watch in movies and shows, seem to creep into our actual reality.

What do you think? 💭 🤔 Is the world ready for Cognify? Do you see any ethical concerns for the prisoners being offered this option, for a reduced sentence or for society, at large? As always, can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
